Debut Date of K-pop Group Luminous Members & a Look at Their Journey in the Music Industry

K-pop group Luminous was originally going to be a five-member act including Youngbin, Suil, Steven, Woobin, and Jayden. But before the group’s official debut, Jayden left. Luminous officially debuted on September 9, 2021, with the album YOUTH and the title track “RUN.”

Since the group’s official debut, Luminous members have released a full-length studio album, Luminous in Wonderland, and three extended plays, including Vision, Youth, and Between Light and Darkness (Self n Ego). Their highest-charting album was the 2022 release Luminous in Wonderland, which peaked at 75 on the Circle Album Chart after a week of its release.

Apart from albums and extended plays, Luminous released six singles and held their first (and last) concert, Youth: You and I, in 2021.

Touching Letters of K-pop Group Luminous

All Luminous members have written touching letters to their K-pop fans, Lumini as they finalize their disbandment on February 9, 2025.

Suil wrote: “I feel sorry to deliver such heavy news to LUMINI, who have always waited for us. Thanks to LUMINI, who always supported and loved us, I was truly happy while promoting as LUMINOUS. The cheers, the eyes filled with love from the audience, and the sounds of support were moments that made me feel alive. The kind words and heartfelt letters from fans were always a great source of comfort for me.”

Youngbin’s letter read: “I am truly grateful that I was able to spend such a happy time as a member of LUMINOUS for the past three and a half years. To LUMINI, who have always supported me, loved me, and cheered me on despite my shortcomings, I sincerely thank you. For me, these years were incredibly precious and filled with beautiful moments that I will never forget for the rest of my life. Once again, I truly appreciate everything. Even though I will no longer be “Youngbin” of LUMINOUS, I plan to continue promoting under the name “Byungil.” I hope you will continue to support me in my future endeavors. And to my fellow members—Suil, Steven, and Woobin—I love you all so much.”

Steven talked about the happy memories they made with fans writing: “First, I want to sincerely thank you for always being with us and creating beautiful memories together.

The three years I spent with LUMINI as a member of LUMINOUS were incredibly special to me, and I will never forget them. Although I will no longer be promoting as LUMINOUS, I will always cherish LUMINI in my heart and treasure our memories together. Moving forward, I hope that we can continue to support each other in our respective paths. LUMINI, I truly love you, and I am proud to have been surrounded by such warm, kind, and lovely fans who always filled my days with laughter. It has been an honor to be with you all.”

Woobin called Lumini “his pride and light” and added: “I wasn’t sure how to start this letter, but I will try to put my thoughts into words. Writing a letter to LUMINI like this feels a bit unfamiliar, and delivering such sudden news makes me feel truly sorry.

More than anything, I feel regretful toward LUMINI, who know me better than anyone. I worried a lot about how to bring this up and whether my words might cause sadness.

Looking back, I think I spent a lot of time wondering how I could repay you with good performances. When you looked at me, your eyes were always filled with love, sometimes even more than from my own family. Thanks to you, I was able to shine brightly during this time. LUMINI are my pride and my light.”
